Through carefully planned training we hope that our new health educators will be able to:

• Distinguish between people who need medical attention and those that don’t and then refer those who need help to real doctors for treatment HAND will pay for.

• Administer First Aid.

• Conduct hygiene classes in schools as well as promoting good hygiene amongst adults.

• Keep records of the health problems of families in the area.

• Educate people on the importance of a healthy diet.

• Explain the dangers of going to non qualified “doctors” and to let people know that HAND will pay for their treatment if they go to real hospitals.

• Build up support networks for families caring for mentally ill patients as well as those who need constant care.
