In partnership with Liuku hospital, we designed a tailor made 6 month training programme for our local village doctor whom we employed along with a nurse.
|
| We sent He MingYi supplies so that he was free to scour the mountains, treating patients and referring others where necessary. |
| Our intention was to expand on the model, training more doctors and nurses. However, we had to change course after our local doctor kept meeting problems due to his refusal to prescribe drugs unless he deemed it absolutely necessary. Unfortunately in certain parts of China, in order to make money, doctors in some clinics will prescribe treatments to the majority of patients as they profit from the sale of drugs. Local people lacking in education and full of trust see this as good practice. |
| We felt that to carry on in this way would be irresponsible so we changed course . |
