Wang Xia Qi, suffers from a rare combination of hyperopia (farsightedness) and presbyopia (weakness of the eye muscles due to age, myopia, or hyperopia).  Because of these conditions, Wang Xia Qi is almost blind.  Since the conditions are both degenerative and progressive, she will become completely blind in the future.  That is all the more reason why it is imperative for her, as a child, to use the little sight she has to learn as much as she can before the inevitable blindness ensues. ?

王夏旗（音译），罕见地同时患有远视眼和老花眼。因为次病状，王夏旗几乎失明，并将会在未来永远失明。这就是为什么对她，一个孩子来说，在无法避免的失明来临之前，用微弱的视力尽自己最大努力学习知识是非常重要的。

“You should have been in the office when the ophthalmologist first placed the glasses on Wang Xia Qi.  She was absolutely surprised and elated by sight.  It was as if she wanted to see everything at once.  The doctor and I both stood there with tears in our eyes watching her amazement at being able to see.” From an e mail from Jeff Mcconnell to Gareth Jones, both HAND facilitators.

Back patient 脊背病人：

Hou Yidin was nearly beaten to death last year leaving him with a crippling back condition. HAND paid for a two week stay in hospital for Hou which involved intensive treatment on his spine and waist. We will continue to pay for pain killers for Hou and while his condition can not be completely cured, we hope we can help improve his quality of life

HOU YIDIN 因去年差点被人打死而留下了后遗症—脊背严重被损坏。HAND慈善诊所为HOU YINDIN 支付了在医院两周治疗期间的所有费用。治疗内容包括大量的脊椎和腰部的治疗。虽然HOU YINDIN的病可能无法痊愈，但我们仍会为他继续支付止痛药的费用，并希望我们能够为改善他的生活质量尽一份力。

Infection that went around 细菌感染问题：
The below infection was infecting a lot of children, our volunteer Jeff Mcconnell found an appropriate steroid to treat the condition. This has given us further incentive to build on our previous hygiene projects as it is very likely that the problem stems from simple hygiene problems.

如下图片所示的感染问题困绕了许多山村里的孩子们。我们的志愿者JEFF MCCONNELL找到了一种类固醇药物可以医治这种感染。这给了我们更加大的动力去完善我们先前的卫生教育工作，因为这种感染很可能是因简单的卫生问题引起的。
 

The congenital damage to Cheng BingDa’s mouth is far more extensive than that found in "cleft lip".  This "cleft" extends to the hard palate and up into the nasal septum. Once again, doctors told us that he will need to mature more before he can have an operation. Meanwhile, we can assure you that there is no boy on earth that is showered with more love and affection that this beautiful little fellow. His nature is as beautiful as his, albeit cleft, smile.

CHENG BINGDA 先天开裂的嘴唇比我们所熟知的兔唇更为严重。他嘴唇的裂缝延伸下至硬腭，上至鼻中隔粘膜。医生告诉我们，CHENG BINGDA需要等到身体发育更加成熟后才能做手术。同时，我们可以向你保证，世界上没有比这更可爱和心中充满爱的小男孩了。他的天性就和他的笑容，虽然有缺陷的笑容，一样美丽。

We have begun talks with the head of the Foreign Affairs Department in the area about collaboration on a public health project. The aim will be to build and maintain fully functioning toilets in the area. At present there are no flushable toilets in the area leading to putrid conditions (see picture below) made worse by the presence of street dogs which tend to drag the waste into public view. Our project will teach local people to use this waste for compost and will act as a foundation for our health educators to build upon.

我们已经和外交部门的高层人员商议在这个地区合作一个公众健康的项目。这个项目的目的是在这个地区建立和维持干净，卫生的厕所。目前为止，这个地区还没有可以用水自动冲洗的马桶。再加上野狗经常将厕所里的垃圾拖到街上，这造成了非常恶劣的卫生环境。我们的项目包括教当地人们如何将人粪做为堆肥使用，并且这会成为我们今后努力的方向。
