Between 2003 – 2009, despite minimal resources, through the goodwill and hard work of hundreds of volunteers HAND has been able to：

• fund operations for over 50 people - many of them life saving
• provide additional free medical care wherever possible to people in 9 villages in Pihe ?Nujiang
• give health hygiene classes and adolescents to children of 35 village schools in the area
• prevent a rogue doctor from carrying out any further surgeries, deadly or otherwise in his village home
• create a rotating library system in the mountains so that children in the area can have the chance to read as much as possible
• crucially built up huge amounts of trust with local people and the local, overstretched government.

从HAND成立的2003年到2009年间，HAND战胜了非常有限的资源和艰苦环境，用上百位自愿者的爱心与努力，我们做到了：

---- - 为怒江匹河乡九个村的村民提供辅助医疗和免费药物；
---- - 为该山区35所中小学的学生孩子们提供卫生教育和免费的卫生用品；
---- - 成功阻止过在山寨中的无证游医给无助村民进行外科手术，帮助避免死亡伤害；
---- - 在深山中创立了一个流动图书站，为偏远山区的孩子们提供读书的机会；
---- - 与当地村民、乡政府、乡医院以及怒江州政府建立了良好的信任关系。

We also thought it right to show here what inspires us most and what we have learnt about the true spirit of charity while establishing HAND. Mei Yuan heard about how HAND was forming while she was alone and on the verge of giving up on life entirely in June 2003. She has agreed to allow us to show you her letter in the hope that it will make a difference to others.
